What is Radial Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)?
Radial Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a treatment which involves shockwaves being passed through the skin to the affected area using a special device. A Shockwave is an intense, short energy wave generated by a projectile which strikes a fixed applicator at a very fast speed.
A course of ESWT treatment with SW Sports Performance normally requires one treatment session a week for 3-6 consecutive weeks. This number may be increased or decreased depending on your response to the treatment. Treatment should not be more than one week apart; optimal is 3-5 days.
Indications for Radial Shockwave Therapy:
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment now being offered in many sports therapy clinics. It is mainly used for chronic pain conditions that have not improved with other treatments.
